About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in the Physics Department at Wake Forest University. My group’s research focuses on studying the effects of gravity on astrophysical systems.

I was born in Bogotá (Colombia), where I earned a B.Sc. in Mathematics at Fundación Universitaria Konrad Lorenz and concurrently earned a B.Sc. in Physics at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where I also acquired a M.Sc in Astronomy. Then, I moved to the US, earned a M.Sc in Physics at the eXtreme Gravity Institute, and completed my PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Then I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University’s Gravity Initiative, and before joining Wake, I was a Richard P. Feynman Distinguished Fellow in Theory and Computing, and a Center for Nonlinear Studies Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

My Research Group

We publish research papers, maintain open data and software repositories, and host regular seminars and workshops to share insights and spark new ideas.

Looking to get involved?

Wake Forest Undergraduate Students: We have openings for undergraduate research during the semester, and summer, and for Senior Research Projects. Please send me an email with your resume.

Undergraduate Students (outside of WFU): I currently do not have opportunities available for undergraduate students outside of Wake Forest University.

Perspective Graduate Students: I currently do not have openings for new graduate students in my group. I encourage you to explore other opportunities within our Department. You can find more information here.

High school students: I don’t usually take on high school students because I feel a responsibility to prioritize opportunities for undergraduate students, applying for graduate school.

Academic Toolkit

This collection features a series of concise, opinion-driven posts focused on academia and research. Here, you will find practical checklists, targeted advice, and curated resource links that cover various topics, including crafting presentations, submitting papers, grant writing, teaching tips, and more. These entries reflect my personal biases and experiences, so I encourage you to consider them critically and adapt the suggestions as needed.
